About Me and MERMAID BEACH Bowls Club
I joined Mermaid Beach Bowls Club for the 2009 Pennant Season in a effort to Improve my game to the next Level. Although I was told I would be in Division 1 at Paradise Point (Providing I performed of course), I wanted the chance to step up from Lead or 2nd.
Joining Mermaid I had the opportunity to play 3rd and Skip and help them rebuild after the exit of 3 top players. I have made good friends here over the years and they have a good group of players. I enjoyed the Challenge here. I was asked to play Super Challenge 2010 here but Trials were too early here and I was not being forced to give up my weekend competitions to trial at such an early stage so I decided to play for Paradise Point so as to be fair to the People that do trial week in and week out.
Unfortunatly Mermaid Beach did not really suit me as it was too Social for me. The People are nice but I needed a club with Strong player and the desire to Perform at the Top Level.
I did not rejoin Mermaid Beach in 2010.

WHY DID I PLAY AT MERMAID BEACH FOR 2009 PENNANT SEASON ?
There are a couple of reasons why I decided to play Pennant at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club Season 2009.
The main reason is that I was disillusioned by Senior members of Paradise Point Bowls Club constant referal that the club had no chance of ever winning anything with the bowlers that we had at the club. They were not good enough. If you tell people they are not good enough, they believe it. Negativity is a killer.
I believe that encouragement by the so called "Top Seasoned Bowlers" can give far better results and performances, rather than put downs and back stabbing. A happy Compatable team with an experienced Bowler to guide the newer bowlers in my opinion will show a good performance and give any team a good shake up.
The other reason is that I had an opportunity to play 3rd or Skip and learn more in Division 1 without having to look over my shoulder if I have a bad game. No one plays well every week no matter who they are. No one has a bad game on purpose and extra pressure from waving arms and constant bad comments do not help in any way.
I am a good Bowler with ambition and wanted a fair go. I am not saying that I have not been given a chance at Paradise Point, I have although I was over looked for Division 1 in Premier League and had to push my way into a side but feel I played ok as lead and 2nd when the opportunity arose. I know some people did not want me there but that is a case of short sightedness. I skipped Division 2 in 2008 Pennant and enjoyed it and went well with a good compatible team.
I am always fully committed to my team, I am a confident bowler and I Bowl 7 days a week in all the local and now some Interstate competitions. I will fit in with any team in any position but prefer not to Lead.
Paradise Point is a good club and I have Great Respect for the Top Bowlers, Their ability and their Records but they have to nurture the inexperienced players along with Total 100% encouragement.
I would have liked to have come back and played Premier League in 2010 but that did not happen as the members had voted to play Super Challenge in 2010. I can under stand their reasons for it. I heard a rumour that this could be the last year of Premier League anyway, I am not sure if it is true but we will see next year I suppose.
A lot of Bowlers will not play fours and Super Challenge will bring more people back into a good competition.
I played Super Challenge and Pennant 2010 at Paradise Point as I felt they have a good Squad. The Infighting stopped and the New Seletors gave everyone a fair go. We were runner up in the Gold Division Final to Musgrave Hill 2010 and finished 3rd Place in Division 1 Pennant 2011.
