Read full media release on THBC web site ..later this morning .... ****************************************************************************************************************** SUPER CHALLANGE 2012 STARTS TODAY So it starts for another season. Have had to make a decision to play Super Challenge for McKenzie Park or Club Championships at Cabarita which clash so have chosen Super Challenge. Today I am leading for Eathan Lord in the Gold Pairs. We went well together in the trials 2 weeks ago and am sure we will do so again. Looking forward to it. Ok.. Disapointing start to the season going down 2-3 but went down fighting. Our Singles got up 31-21 with a good performance from our player. Pairs, Myself and Ethan Lord had a good hard win 18-14 against Todd and Tony. We had a bit of luck but also played very good bowls. Lost 4 of the last 5 ends but held in there and played well together again. Gorden Simm and Steve Docking went down to the last end but failed to get the 2 for an extra end and went down 16-20 after killing last end twice to try and force the result. Dave Baker triples went down 19-34.. Chris Hoppers Fours were 20-16 after 21 ends but the last 4 ends just failed to stop the opposition and eventually went down by 20-24 I think it was. A fine effort by Chris Hooper with his last bowl. Going for a 2 ft trail for 3 and a win, He his the kitty but it went sideways and game over. 2 weeks and away to Mooloolaba on their new indoor rinks. Looking forward to it. No bowls for me today but today is a special day.
For all those people who loved Star Trek, Have we got a treat for you. Ear today, Gone Tomorrow - Live Long and Prosper I am sure he will be at Paradise Point Bowls Club this afternoon, knocking back a cold Capt Kirk soft drink or even a Sulu, with a few Klingons expecting him to shout. No Bones about it. He will tell them all to Chekov. 70 Years old today is Mr Spock. Have a Great Day Mate I played with Don Henson today with his Old Super Grip Bowls. After the 1st 3 ends he was dynamic. We played against Robert Groth and Bob Atkinson on the Indoor and after a slowish start, we won 9 ends in a row and played pretty well. We ended up winning 30-16 and it was a great game and was good to play with Don. It just shows that No matter what Bowls you have. you have to be able to make them perform. Don did just that today.
Nothing again planned today.
Nothing planned today but would be off anyway as heavy rain on the Gold Coast.
Abdul Latif and I played in cloudy, slow conditions on a difficult day for bowls. 1st game against Brian Moore and Mario Azzopardi on Rink 14. Hard to handle green with tight bowls. We got a 7 on 1st end when Mario or Brian got no where near it, Dropped a 6 on 2nd end when Latif and I were no where either. From then on it was an easier shot to drive than draw. We won 24-10 but were glad to get off. 2nd game against Bill and Norm Simpson. A good game but green was not much better for bowls. We won 17-8 with 9 ends and got 2nd money for the day. Even L:atif struggled at times with weight but it was a days bowls anyway.
Looking forward to Super Challange next weekend. I would have liked to have played Premier League but could not be bothered driving to Brisbane every weekend. Maybe next year If I am still bowling.
