Last game is the Season today and us at McKenzie Park are away to my old team Paradise Point. A Game we will be trying hard to win and make it 3 from 3 and keep us in Division 1. We will all be trying. Warm day but pretty windy.
****************************************************************************************************************** We lost today. Evidently had the chance to play on the Indoor rink which would have been quicker than the top green without wind too. Our Rink Dion Walker, Laurie Whitely, Wayne Marshall and I had a hard game against Gordon Simms, Orm Geiger, Ian Brighton and Ken Roberts. We won 1st end and lost the next 10 and were down 1-12 after 11 ends, We started a come back although we were playing quite well anyway, We never had much luck this week also. We were at 6-12 and holding 5 before Ken drew 2nd shot with his last bowl to keep their lead. We just never got close enough after that to challenge and went down 11-19 dropping a 2 on the last end chasing shots. We played well enough but just one of those days., I was more than happy with my conversions today. Drew fairly well too for the most part. Ethan Lord had a hard game against a Make shift Paradise side with Franky Vesco skipping and Frankys side had a big win 6-24 I think final score was. Chris Hooper had a close game against Troy Corba side but just went down I think in last few ends. Disappointing end to the season and now hoping for a favourable result to see if Tugun or Us survive in Division 1. Grant Osborne and I will see how we go away from Paradise Point with 3 what should be hard games against Local Brisbane Competition. Red Edwards and Bob Brown also coming up. Whats the betting we draw against them.
******************************************************************************************************************* We avoided our local players.. Was a very tricky day with good running green but shifty wind made it very hard to get the same line and weight. Our 1st game against Mark Lister (Mudgeeraba) and Dave Cooke (Burleigh Heads). Grant and I played excellent bowls for our 21-8 Win. Once we had them on long ends we took over after a slowish start. 2nd game against Mark and Muttley (Hamilton). They had just beaten Ian Hughes and Brian Lamb in their 1st game. We had a great win 23-6 and played very well again. 3rd game and "The Big Test". Against Ricky V and Sean Baker. Sean has just gone down to Lambys team in the 2nd game. Grant and I started slowish and were 0-4 down after 3 ends and signs looked ominous. We picked up a 5 and from then on picked our game up and got 3 Fives during the game and led 16-8. I am never comfortable against Sean as his brillliance shines when he has to and he found a gap to get a 2 from nothing and started the pressure comeback. They won 6 from 7 ends and we managed to keep them to low scores. Up 16-15 with 2 ends to go, things went wrong and found ourselves 5 down on the head with my last bowl. I had not found the line on the windy hand with my other 3 and just tried to relax and get it cut down. I found a great shot that I am sure Sean would have been proud of when i dead drew shot and gave us a 17-15 lead with 1 end to go. Grant put 2 very close on the last end but Sean drove and the kitty ended in the ditch. We all had about 10 metres to draw but T to T with slowing afternoon green and shifty winds saw us all fall short. I managed with my last bowl to get shot and thankfully Seans miracle drive never came off and we ended up winning 18-15. Its nice to beat Sean as usually he gets the better of us and so he should. Its hard to run and tournament and play in it and his mind would not have been focused after losing his 2nd game anyway but we still had to win and I know he tried hard but we had the luck on the day. Grant played very well as usual and looking forward to more comps this year together. Grant and I got an indoor rink today against Peter Day and Alick Bannister. We had a good game. Someone said earlier that "This will be easy" Bull Crap. No game is easy. After 9 ends we were down 4-9 and although playing well, they were playing better. We eventually got a 6 and that got us going and another one 3 ends later and a 5 saw us end with a 29-15 win. Was a good game and we had to be on our toes. Grant played well and I had a few good ones but missed a couple i should have got. Ready for Big games tomorrow at hamilton all dayer...
Linda Gardiner, Myself and Dave Gardiner play the 3 games here today. Game 1 on a windy cool day. 1st game against Margrette, Gail Waitai (Broadbeach) and Neville Wood Bradley (Manly). We had a good hard game which we won on the last end 12-11. 2nd game against a Kingscliff team skipped by Brian Turner. We played well but under the conditions we went to the last end again and lost 18-19. We needed a 3 on last end but only got 1 to lose by 1 shot. Brian made some good saves to cost us the game,. 3rd game against Garry Pendlebury, Mike Moran and Shane O'Toole (Burleigh Heads). Down 1-5 after 6 ends, We came back strongly and ended up winning 20-7. Great win and won us the high last game and money back. Good days bowls and nice of Dave and Linda to ask me to play. We all played pretty well all day. Unluck to lose 2nd game as would have got 4th place.
We play at home to Beenleigh Division 1 this week. MUST WIN. We had a great win last weekend against Burleigh Heads. All 12 players were incredible. We will try our hardest again.
******************************************************************************************************************* We won 2 Rinks to 1 and won overall Our Rink Dion Walker, Laurie Whitley, Wayne Marshall and Myself beat Paul Watsons side 21-16. We were up 10-1 but then 10-9 and then end to end but we managed to get up 21-15. We all played very well and gave us a good chance overall as other 2 sides were down but came back well. Ethan won 22-17 and Chris Hoopers side fought well and went down by about 2 shots but we won overall., Must win next week against Paradise Point to get off the bottom, Will be hard as they will put us on the slow green but after today we should be use to that. Day Off Today although I would have liked to have played the all dayer Pairs at Pottsville but Daughter coming up from Sydney and I have to pick her up at 2.30pm. I suppose she could wait til 5 for me !!!! Nah,, better not eh?
