Andy Hodgskin and I played together for the 1st time. 3 games on slowish greens with very windy conditions had everyone struggling and wingeing. 1st game against Dave McCann and Barry Browne (McKenzie Park) We never played our best but Dave with his Raking shots and Barry with his good draw bowls ended up beating us 16-23. 2nd game against Mick and Matt Bell (Helensvale). We managed a 17-17 draw after a good hard game which was a bit better quality bowls. Some good heads and shots were played and we got a draw on the last bowl. 3rd game against Glen Bailey (Musgrave) and Dave Gardiner (Broadbeach) we lost 8-24. Was trickey conditions and we all struggled early but Glen found it and plonked them on and we never got into the game after that. Better luck tomorrow..

Final Pennant game today against Paradise Point away. Gordon Simms, John, Myself and Steve Docking played against Wayne Krones, LLoyd Nash, Alan Brough and Ian Brighton and we had a good win 31-13. We all played pretty well. Wayne played well for the opposition and Alan played some good bowls at times but a slowish green caught LLoyd and Ian a bit off guard so we had an easy win. Chris Hoopers side had a good last end win 20-18 against Strongs team and Paul Staggards side went down against Troys team by about 12 shots of so but we got up over all for only our 2nd win of the season to finish 3rd bottom. Glad seasons over but Steve Docking was a joy to play for. His performance today was among the top bowlers I have played with.
Bob Brown and I played Keith Pheglan and Paul Kalaher and had a good win 28-9 over the 18 ends. Could have been heaps more but for so0me early saves by the opposition. Runners up for the money after Laurie Swift had an incredible 43-1 win.
Ralph (Spock) Hunt and I..... Could be a case of "Whats going on ear"
Ralph and I played Jim Sand Kim Harlow today. We started ok and played fairly well but dropping and 7 and 5 in 1st 10 ends made it hard. Down 3-20 we fought back well to win 7 ends straight and although holding multiples, Kim always got in there and Jim often had good shots. We got within 6 before they won the last 3 ends and we went down 14-23. Good game and Kim and Jim played well. Ralph went ok too but No Luck!!!!! Quiet day, few things on locally. No Bowls.
Quiet Day checking out Forklifts and Cars locally.
Bowls Business Sales to Conduct also a good game with Mario in what are supposed to be very windy conditions. Should be entertaining as Mario is struggling with numerous bowls in the wind lately.
Actually it was fun and very windy. We won our 1st game 17-2 against Kevin and Jim Leijan in very blusterly conditions. We Played well. 2nd game we sneaked home against Bill Cracker and Martin Fletcher 14-12 but won 8 from 13 ends and won 2nd Money so that was good. Even harder with the wind on the 2nd game and Mario found out that Almarks are no different to any other bowls in the wind. I was happy to be Skipping today for sure. 3 Months to Christmas !!!!! I needed a day off to contemplate this one...
At McKenzie Park against Broadbeach. I was 3rd to Steve Docking this week. We also had Butch at 2nd as Clint was promoted to 3rd to Steve Hooper and Clint is playing excellent bowls and certainly helped as Hoops side won by 8 shots over Sean Ingham. Paul Staggard went down by about 10 shots to Bruce McNish side and we stuck in there but went down by 7 shots to Sean Baker and Paul Petersons side. Rodney and Clinton Bailey also against us. Was a good game and Paul and Bakes certainly played some good shots when required. 1 more week to go and season over. Must win next weekend against Paradise Point.
Mario Azzopardi and I played here today and had 3 good hard games. I was Lead today and led very well. Mario done ok as skip although his Alphas are up for Sale tonight. He switched to the Almark in last game and they handled the faster windy conditions a lot better. 1st game against Mark Bennett and Jacki Knight (Condong). Close all the way and we went down on the last end 13-16 chasing the win. 2nd game against Doc and John Mc Guire (Burringbar) we won 20-8 and played very well. The game that mattered against A Byron Guy and Mike Anderson (Ballina). We had to win by 3 shots to win the section,. Very hard fought game and up 14-13 on last end but chasing the extra shots, dropped a 2 and went down 14-15. Great days bowls..
