Latif and I played Laurie Smith and George Horley (Helensvale) and had a great win 41-9 but only managed 2nd place as Gary Thomas and Geoff Lanham had a Margin of 41. Oh well $40 each better than nothing and we both bowled well. Latif likes his new SRV's. A Set that Draws a little.

First Day of Spring.
Having a game today at my Home Club Cabarta with Cess Shepherd. Played against him Saturday in the Club triples where he skipped and played well but the green being holding would not let his or anyones bowls turn when needed. We got up 21-20 but were lucky in the end although Billy Parr and Myself were often no where near the Jack. Just find it so hard to concentrate in Triples and Fours and unless I am skipping am not really interested so will probably be the last time I play in any Triples or Fours. With My back problem might end up giving up competitions all together soon. Its not that it causes much problem when I play, Its just drains me mentally. Most games I go out and don't give a stuff about and just throw the bowls down and expect it to happen. South Tweed was different. I was motivated the whole time and played exceptional in 6 of the games. Anyway see how we go today. Will be fun…. ****************************************************************************************************************** Change of Plan. Cess was awaiting the arrival of a GrandSon/Daughter so could not play so I pulled out. Will get together some other time. Plenty of other things to do anyway as arranging some minor damage repair on one of my cars. No Bowls Today. Someone coming to see the Lexus I am selling. Apart from that a nice quiet day. Bowls again Monday at Cabarita Beach with Cess Shepherd,
I was not going to enter but asked John Turner to play so we have a shot at it.. Going to be slow greens but will see how we go.
******************************************************************************************************************** We Played against Paul Walsh, Dave Perez and Cess Shepherd, No one really mastered the green all day, I know I was bloody hopeless except for a few bowls. Bill Parr played some good bowls when needed and John Turner kept us in the game early as we got out to a 17-7 lead. We were pulled back after shit bowls from me and Bill and on 18th end were leading 19-18. We got a 2 and led 21-18. Dropped a 1 on the 20th end when Cess was unlucky with a drive that if it has gone in ditch we would have lost the game, He killed it and we replayed the end. We went down 1 on the last end and another close drive when they needed 2 to tie. They got a 1 and we won 21-20. Very lucky to get out of the game with a win. The green was tricky east west and slowish and bowls would not turn in or against the breeze so let every one wondering what to do next. Oh Well see how we go next week. No Bowls Today but Tomorrow all day at Cabarita will be good although greens will be slow…

Glad I never played today as Raining Hard this morning. We were very lucky with the last 3 Days at South Tweed and were virtually rain free all 3 days dispute forecast of a soaking.
Day off today and Glad of it too... 5th Place after Day 2 and 2 hard games today. Rain Forecast so could make it more difficult.
****************************************************************************************************************** Rain Stayed away but was still windy but greens ran pretty well considering. 7th game against Roy Nunn and Glen Bailey (Musgrave Hill). What a Game and Bobby led Very well again and I played Very well to and was such a tight game at 7-7 on 12th end was still anyones game. They edged ahead and dispute a valiant effort they just hung on to win 8-11. Twice in the game we held 5 and the first was the killer. Last Bowl on the 6th end Glen was way narrow with his on shot when they were 5 down, but hit a shot up from 4 yards out and instead of going straight through like a normal hit up bowl, it had all the finness of a Ralph Hunt Wobbly Wrong'n Flipper and found its was to the jack and sat there for shot. On the 10th end and holding 5 again , Glen had a good drive and killed the end. We all agreed we played the better bowls but things never went our way but was happy with the game all the same. Still in 5th place and needing to play well and beat Peter Leon and Ian Taylor who were currently top and had just won on the last Bowl against Dean McWhinney and Graham Shillington and a win would see them home. 8th and Fina game. Green quicker after lunch and Bobby and I played over weight most of the game. Could just not find it and these 2 just draw all day and even when they were down Tails would convert brilliantly. We went down 7-26 and very disappointingly went from 5th to 15th after losing our margin and only winning 5 games which pushed us back to the Bunch. Anyway overall 3 great days and Bob Played Great all 3 days and I did pretty well and we won some hard games. Oh well a few days off now. Not much coming up til 19th September all Dayer at Pottsville apart from Club Championship Triples at Cabarita and Social Pairs around the traps. Bob Brown and I had 3 Good Wins yesterday. Will try hard again today and going to be windy again. See How we go….
****************************************************************************************************************** 4th Game on Windy but Dry day. We were 3rd place after Day 1 on 3 Wins and we played the 2nd place side of Lesley Behnke and Estelle Welsh. We both played well with Plenty of good wicks for a good 18-9 win. 5th game against John Millington and Ray Pickard. Greens picked up pace after lunch and caught us a bit off guard and John Millington played out of his tree and after 5 ends we were holding at 4-4 before his flash of brilliance for a 4. We never got back in the game after that dispite playing some good shots. Ray had 2 cracking drives too which changed the game early. We lost 8-19 which was disappointing. 6th and final game against West Toowoomba Boys Russell Fenn and Stephen Mills. We had to play really well and positive as they were on fire early and 1-3 before we got a great 7 and never looked back. We won 21-11 and kept our hopes alive and finished Day 2 in 5th place. Tomorrow is the real test with games against Glen Bailey (Musgrave Hill) and Ian Taylor and Peter Leon who surely will win the competition unless we can stop them but they are a class act. Will be going out to try anyway. Bob Brown and I will have a fun 3 days. Weather today possible shower but reckon we will get away with a Clear and Dry Day.
****************************************************************************************************************** 3 Great Games for Bob today without any Wrong Biases Ralph. Horrific winds although rains held off. very hard to get a good line although we handled the day pretty well considering. 1st game against Ron Lewis and Christine Baxter we had a good game and were neck and neck most of the game before I dropped a 5 on 2nd last end leaving us a 3 to tie and 4 to win on the last end. With Bobs last bowl he managed to get the Jack back where we were holding 3 shots. Christina Missed with her last 2 Bowls and I drew the 4th Shot to win 17-16. 2nd game against Les Rootsey and Mario Azzopardi. A Good game and a great start and up 11-1 after 4 ends and although we let them back in to 11-9 closed them out with both bowling good bowls for a 23-10 win. 3rd game against Gavin Brickleworth and Gary Dennis (Coolangatta and Broadbeach). Another good tussle and we got up 16-12 with some good bowls played all round especially by Bobby and I. A Good hard day and hope to continue tomorrow although the probability of coming up against a few big boys tomorrow. We are ready for anyone… Last Day off before Big Weeks Bowls probably in the Rain….
