We had a good 5-1 win today. Josh Mills, Myself, Brian Lamb and Latif had a good 28-12 win. Dereks side had a good win but Geoff Westalls side went down to a stacked Richard Scott side by about 10 shots. An overall win is what we wanted and keeps us on top on ladder after 4 weeks. A Must win this week at Cabarita against a hard Kingscliff. We all played well today on our rink.

Computer in shop to clear VIrus. About a week without it so I will try and update this with IPad but no photos til I am back with main computer next week.
This is my last Thursday with Grant Osborne as he returns to the UK next Thursday for almost 5 months. I will certainly miss him and his great bowls. Will have to survive til late September. Anyway today we are playing Pairs and in the afternoon in a Fours Game after being invited to play. Hope weather stays fine for us all. Will be heavy greens outside. He loves that. Haha..
*************************************************************************** Morning Mens Pairs against Roy Wakeham and Tony Rhodes Indoors on Rink 1. We had our usual good game with some good bowls all round for a 27-15 win. Kept our good record going. Only lost 1 game in pairs together this year and that was against Sean Baker in the Money Play offs at McKenzie Park at Easter. We both play excellent together. Look forward to September when Grant returns from UK. Afternoon Mens Fours. Indoor Rink 6. Grant and I were invited by Brian Weldon to play against Orm Geigers team in a challenge game. Our side of Brian Weldon and George Osborne (Shared game), Geoff Ellingham, Myself and Grant Osborne (Skip). We played pretty well together and were never troubled in our 22-13 21 end win. Even the half time sandwich break never slowed us down and we were even stronger 2nd half. Great way to finish the week... Thanks for the Invite and well done to all players. Abdul Latif and I playing here today and hope its not wet and windy. Latif won this tornament with Rob Harper (Cabarita) last year.
Rain stayed away and greens ran slow but well. Bridesmaid again. We came 2nd by 1 point after a good day. 15 points per win, 5 games 17 ends 2 Bowl Pairs. 1 Point Per end. 1st game against Richard Kessinger and John Bailey. Richard and John played great bowls for the 1st 10 ends before John made an error and hit one of our bowls up for shot and we made it into a 4 and never looked back. We were fortunate to win 18-14 but only 9 ends. 2nd game against Mick Morgan and Murray James. We played fairly well and another good win 21-12 and 11 ends. 3rd game after lunch against Mike Richards and Owen Simpson. Struggled a but we came through 22-10 and 12 ends. 4th game against Davd Bennett and Larry Ponting and won a tight one 15-11 and 9 ends. It was a rouigh game for me and probably cost us the overall win as a couple of lose ends cost us ends. Latif got us home. 5th and final game against Dick Aldridge and Barry Sheppard and a good 22-5 win and 13 ends. This game us 2nd Money on 5 wins. We were lucky also as a lot of good sides won 4 wins. Grant Osborne and Wayne Krohns beat Steve Massey and Mario Azzopardi to let them lose 1 game and then Grant and Wayne lost their only game to Maurie Penfold. Anyway we all enjoyed the day. Southport Prawn Morning called off as rained heavy from 6 til 10am. Next one 13th May 2012. A quiet day at home. Daughter went back to Sydney after 2 weeks here so its certainly quiet now.
3rd week for Cabarita. Barry Sheppard, Brian Lamb, Myself and Latif play in the 1 side. We hope to make it 3 from 3 today...
Our Side went down on the last end in a tight game. We needed 5 to draw and had 4 and Latif was 1ft short for the draw after drawing a wonderful 4th shot. The green was very holding but we had a day without rain. Barry and Brian played fairly well, I hated the conditions and never played well. Latif played some good shots when required. Other Results, Dereks side won 19-13 and Geoff Westalls side won by heaps... Overall 5-1 win. Good News Kingscliff Lost 1-5 so puts us top of table. No Matter what happens we have to beat Kingscliff Home an Away and not lose a game anywhere else to win this Pennant. Next week away to Pottsville. Grant Osborne (Paradise Point) and Greg Heading (Musgrave Hill) went head to head today in the 1st Semi Finals of the District singles. It was a good game and could have gone either way but Greg pulled out some very good bowls when needed and just edged out Grant in a close encounter 19-25. Good support from the Gang of Paradise and Grant should be proud of his effort to go so close to the Final..
The 2nd Semi Final between Paul Girdler (Tweed Heads) and Sean Inglam (Broadbeach) was another good game. Paul had most of the game and some good drives to get out of trouble and at 24-13 looked all over but Sean fought back to 24-21 before Paul finally got the winning shot on a measure. Another Top Quality Game. The Final went to Paul Girdler 25-6 against Greg Heading which I never saw but Paul obviously a bit strong for Greg. Well done everyone who Competed. Good Bowls all round. P.S Now the Fun Part. Grant Osborne had a wrong Bias on the 2nd bowl of the day, 1st one this year he says !! Heard that before and it was confirmed that is was his 2nd. He had a wrong bias after receiving a kiss for luck from a female member of Paradise Point Bowls Club in the Club Pairs and immediately rolled a wrong Bias then. Story Courtesy of Thelma Osborne. Thank God I never kissed him at McKenzie Park last weekend... I found this and had to share with you all.... 2 Versions...
