Last week for filling in for Bob Avery. Wayne Krohn and I had 2 good games again. 1st game against Cliff Jones and John Butterworth on the quick outdoor green. We won 25-3 and played brilliantly. 2nd game against r\Ray Jago and Ian Brighton, Another thriller we won 15-14. Ian took me on and never covered the back when he held 4 shots and went for 5 with his last bowl when score was 8-9. I drove and got kitty back for 5. Dont chance your arm against my drive. Anyway a good day and we won High 1st game so that was good. Wayne Played good as usual.
Tony Edwards and I today for 3 games. Phil Capons sore back ruled him out and Latif playing at Tweed in the All Day Triples. Should be a good day Indoors with Tony.

Daily Diary - Cabarita Beach Club Championship Mens PAIRS Semi Finals - Saturday 15th June 20136/14/2013 Mick Morgan and I play against either Cecil Shephard and Mark Howarde or Dave Perez and Glenn Searle at 1.00pm. Whoever it is will be a good game. Nice weather forcast and the greens should be fairly quick after 2 days no rain. ******************************************************************************************************************* A Report 1st on the game (1/4 final) between Dave Perez and Glenn Searle and Cecil Shephard and Mark Howarde. I was not there to see the most of the game but Cess and Markl down 3-14 early on but fought back and I saw the last 4 ends where Cec and Mark came back with an array of shots and good bowls to get a win on the last end. Needing 1 for an extra end, Ces drove the Jack into the ditch and then drew another shot for the 2 they needed to win. Great result which left Dave and Glenn disappointed they lost but did so with some good bowls from the Winners at vital times. A Wrong Bias by Glenn Searle on the last end showed the amount of Concentration in the final end. ******************************************************************************************************************* Our Game... Semi Final. Mick Morgan and Myself V Cecil Shephard and Mark Howarde. We started at 2pm which meant the wind had dropped and the green ran ok after the rains we had. We dropped a 5 on 2nd end and got it back on 3rd end and from then on it was never more than 2 shots in it up til 15th end when we led 16-13. We lost 5 of the last 6 ends. At 18-18 on the last end and a little unlucky at times during the game with the bounce of the Jack, Cec beat us to it with a bowl 1" from the Jack which we could not remove and we went down 18-19. Could not drive it off as we never had the back bowl and at 5pm, no sun and almost dark, green running slow I missed my line and failed. Oh well.. If I had o lose to anyone its Cec. He has been trying so hard to win a championship and he may well do sothis year. He played confidently and without fear. Mark Backed him up well and it was a thrilling game. Saturdays off now til Triples on July....
Mick Morgan and I will have 3 good games here today and I am looking forward to it. Good practice for the Semi Final Saturday in the Club PAIRS. Hope it does not rain as it will be slow as it is.
****************************************************************************************************************** BRILLIANT HOSPITALITY TODAY AGAIN BY POTTSVILLE BOWLS CLUB. VISITORS BRANKO PETROVIC, ROBBIE CRESSWELL, TED REID AND RON LEWIS ALL FROM BRISBANE CLUBS ALL HAD A GREAT DAY AS I AM SURE EVERYONE DID. A DAY TO MARK IN NEXT YEARS BOWLS CALENDER. ****************************************************************************************************************** 1st game against Branko Petrovic and Robbie Cresswell. Incredible. I invited them down to Pottsville for their first visit from Logan City and Guess who we played 1st game, Yep... Oh well we always have a great game. No exceptions here. Greens ran well although slow after 3" rain yesterday. We were up 7-0 after 4 ends but dropped a 2 and then a 5 when they went ditch to ditch. From then on it was nip and tuck but they just got ahead on the last few ends with some good bowling and we needed a 5 to win or 4 to draw and almost pulled it off before Branko moved the Jack to an impossible position with his last bowl. We got a 2 and went down 12-14. 2nd game against Bill Stevens (Pottsville) and Harry (Ocean Shores). A game we should have won but for Harry and some good bowls. Down 9-11 on last end and salvaged a 2 to get an 11-11 draw. last Game we played Alister (Cabarita) and Fred Smith (Cudgen). A brilliant win 22-3 and played our best bowls here. A good days bowls and great conditions. Looking forward to Club PAIRS Semi Final tomorrow afternoon at Cabarita Beach. I filled in for Phil Capon today and Played with Tony Edwards at Paradise Point
We had a good hard game on Rink 1 Indoor against Ian Brighton and Ray Glasser.. Was an excellent game and although I was somewhat pleased with my game, it was Tony who excelled and drew some wonderful shots and won the game for us. A few times I left Tony in the Poop after a few over draws left us a few down. We won 19-15 after 19 ends. Ray played ok although not up to his usual standard. Ian played well as usual. I Was critisized for not drawing and playing over weighted shots and rightly so but thats the way I play. Luckily it was Ray I was playing against who I respect is there for a quality game so I never drove as much as I would have against lesser bowlers. I get bored easily when leading. Its all well and good saying that I should draw more but I am a very aggressive person when it comes to sport and I want to smash everything so find it hard to just draw. Anyway I always respect players criticism especially from High profile players although it is never going to work for me. Apart from that I find it annoying with my Knee and Back problem and although its not a major problem, it certainly annoys me constantly like it does most bowlers our ages I expect. I now play the game for fun and if I can cause problems on the greens for the opposition I will certainly do so. I play with people who have to accept me the way I play. If they want bowls in the head, They can put them there and let me skip. They will only get a few from me. Car Auctions In Brisbane Today.
