It seems that every game lately I seem to be playing well. I am pretty consistant now and happy with every game I play. Of course no one can make every shot they play but I am always trying to convert for more shots also save when I have to and generally trying to become a good all round player and my ambition is to be as good as anyone at our club. On the day, most people can perform but doing it consistantly is what I am striving for.
John Mclean and I played Brian Fallis and Tage Pederson for a good win 24-9. We held 2 x 7's but Tage foiled us on both attempts with a draw and a drive. Good hard game and John and I played wel againl. Green was a good pace too.

Bob Barry and I played against Barry Gilbert and Gerry Ruggeri today on a slowish front green. Not running as well as it has been and the wind affected it too as well as the rain from the other evening. We had a good win 21-14 and Bowled very well. Barrys drives were mainly on target and Gerry played some good bowls now and again but struggled with his tighter bowls. Good set of EVO's Barry has. Good game to win anyway.
Bob Brown and I played our 1st game against Tamborine Mountain pair of Jon Fullwood and Paul Nelson. A cool day with slow green after last nights rain. We started well and played very well but 3 major slides/wicks from good weighted but off line bowls cost us this game. We went down 8-12 in the 11 ends. Would have liked to have been a 21 end game, I am sure we would have got up. 2nd game was a good game too against Vic Mansted and Alick Bannister. After dropping a shot on the 1st end after having 3 shots, from a good bowl from Alick, we scored 8 on the next 3 to lead 8-1. We then proceeded to bowl well dispite dropping the next 7 ends to be down 8-11 after 11 ends. A 3 on the 2nd last end got us to 11-11 and the mat and we rolled a short end and we picked up a 1 to win 12-11. A top game and had to dig really deep but we deserved our win but the opposition certainly made us fight with some very good bowls, We just could not get the mat to control the length and they were deadly on long ends. Good days bowls but much prefer the full 21 end game. Will bowl Broadbeach for the next 3 Tuesdays anyway as Bob Brown unavailable.
Kingscliff Over 55 Pairs event were on today but owing to the visitors filling it up early, I missed out. I had a quiet day sorting out stuff at home and cooking 2 great curries. I will be ready to Run down the greens tomorrow at Paradise Point in the afternoon Pairs with Bob Brown.
Beautiful Day with the weather, Greens and the Company. Alan Wood and I played Noel and Jo Goodwin from Woy Woy N.S.W. Although a 1 sided game it was enjoyable and we set our own goals and ended up winning 47-5. Alan and I bowled well although Noel and Jo tried, they struggled a bit as they have not bowled for a few months as they have been World touring. This is a brilliant day. $200 pairs, Feed of Prawns or Sausage sizzle after the game. I think everyone should bring a team for the next event and make sure this 3rd Sunday in every month is a huge success each and every month.
BROADBEACH UMPIRE FOR THE DAY - STAN GADD IN HIS BRIGHT NEW UMPIRE UNIFORM
Billy George and Harry Foreshaw playing Barry Gilbert and Sean Baker. I watched the 1st 10 ends and when I left Billy and Harry just picked up a 6 to go to a 17-13 lead. I had to go and bowl myself so have just had the report from Billy on final result. Sean and Barry won by 12 shots. Once Sean had the mat, they played short ends and caught Harry and Billy slightly off guard and they dropped a 5 and 2 x 4's. They never recovered but all in all it was a good effort to get that close. Well done guys. I filled in today in the Pennant trials in Div 3 and skipped for Wayne Krohns, Bob Avery, Darryl Evans. We played Greg Moran. Steve Dann, Ronnie Boucher and Maurie Hinton. Was a good game and we all played well. The greens ran well and we played a good game and although we only won 21-19, we were always ahead. Wayne led very well All Day, Bob Avery had a couple of weight problems on 1st few ends but once again settled and played very well. My first time seeing and Playing with Darryl and he put some good bowls in but struggled a bit at times with the cross breeze. I was more than happy with my game and played well. All in all on our green we won 3 of the 5 games. Brett Pearse had a good win against Rod Napper next to us. I am not sure on the result of Jeff Morrisons game but they had a lot of fun and it would have been close Ross Fox (selector) was keeping an eye on players and doing a good job.
CHECK MY RUMOURS/FACT PAGE RE 21 METRE RULE AND MAT GIVEAWAY - NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The greens were a lot quicker today and some of the locals struggled with the pace also the stiff breeze. Phil Capon and I played 1st game against Noel Eyre and Steve Melton. Usually hard to beat but they struggled as Phil and I turned it on, wicks included. 10-1 up but ended 12-6 after 10 ends. 2nd game more difficult against Andy and Dam Williams. We were down 3-7 but playing ok when we played good solid bowls to end up winners 18-10. Phil played well again, more wicks... All in all a good morning and warm up for Pennant Trials tomorrow at Musgrave Hill.
A lovely running green after being at Southport yesterday. Rink 10. A bit cool this morning though. John McLean and myself played Bill Richmond and Roy Wakeham and had our usual tight competitive tussle against these two. We managed to get a good start but after about 8 ends we were 12-11. we eventually won 27-18 and some good bowls played by all of us. Never under estimate these two. They have always been a pain in my side for their competitive nature and their bowling ability.
Bob Barry and I played Brian Anderson and Merv Hellier on the Top Green. Slow, Spongy and horrid and made the morning no fun at all. We had a hard fought win 23-18 but no one played well on the green at all. Disapointing but with not much money to spend on it, Doubt it will get much better. Besides, most of the year it will not be used as not enough bowlers here, just enough to fill the main 2 greens. I am just worried about the Southport Invitation Pairs on 25th and 26th. There will be complaint as there were last year as everyone will get at least 1 game in the 2 days on it. I expect the competition to be full dispite Musgrave Pairs on the same weekend, 26th and 27th July. There is good planning for you. Tweed Heads and Paradise Point also have a Monday Pairs days too on 26th July 2010.
