Rob Harper, Myself and Abdul Latif took on Rick Parlett, Charles Klaverstyn and Glen Searle. Windy conditions saw a shoddy game which the opposition handled better than we did. We never were in the game from the start and dispite Latif killing a few ends we just could not get any rythum and Charles and Rick played some good bowls and Glen steered them home. Very disapointed with my performance but at least it gets me out of a problem with up and coming pennant which is also on Saturdays and would clash with later rounds of these triples.

Rob Harper, Myself and Abdul Latif played against Bob Caustley, Peter and Pat Clancy. We won 35-4 and they pulled pin after 20 ends. Not a good morning for bowls as very windy and was just a nice relaxing roll upm for us. We did what we had to do and that was get to Round 2 tomorrow. Might be a little harder against Glen Searles team.
Daily Diary - Tweed Heads Indoor Winter Carnival Mens Open Triples FINAL Thursday 21st July 20117/21/2011 Rusty, Michael Turner and Sean Baker 19
beat Bernie Lamberton, John North and Sean Ingham 18. Wonderful game to be involved in but also very disapointing for us to go down on the last Sean Baker Bowl. It was however a brilliant bowl. We were sitting on game with Sean Bakers last bowl had to remove my front toucher 2" from the Jack and he done it Backhand as clean as a whistle. By the way did I mention that was his only telling bowl all night. Sean had a hard day playing the singles and had to front up for this. His team certainly held the side together for Sean to win it for them and well done to them all. Michael Turner had kept them in the game with some wonderful draw bowls as Myself and John played well to keep the pressure on Rusty and Mike. I have found out why they called Michael Onions.. He just makes you cry. Just when it looked like we were getting ahead, There was Michaels bowls again. Sean Ingham so cool under pressure for a young player and gamesman ship from the experienced Sean Baker, played a wonderful game as he had all through the other games. He had the very last bowl after Sean Bakers brilliant match winner. Back hand to sit out the oppositions shot and he missed by centimetres, It was a privilage to be involved in this final with John North, who played excellent bowls dispite his knee problem and he goes into hospital tomorrow morning for a new knee and we wish him all the best. Also to be able to Lead for someone like Sean Ingham. I just did'nt want to let him down and I am sure I did'nt. Well done everyone and hope I can once again get into a position of getting to a final again in the future. Thanks for the brilliant 100 or so supporters who turned up to give the Indoor atmosphere and us all support. Daily Diary - Tweed Heads Indoor Winter Carnival Mens Open Triples FINAL Thursday 21st July 20117/20/2011 Myself, John North and Sean Ingham play against Michael Turner and Sean Bakers side tonight at Tweed Heads Indoor at 6.30pm in the Final of Winter Carnival Triples.
4.08pm, I am off for a leisurly drive to Tweed Heads. Relaxed after an easy day. Looking forward to tonights encounter and against all odds, Win the Triples. Sean Baker went down today in the Singles to Nathan Rice so will be out to fire tonight as we expect. Not fair on Sean Baker though, Had to play 2 singles game today and now expected to perform a final tonight. A champion as he is, it might just take his edge off, Or... Make him more determined. One thing he might be forgetting.. Sean Ingham A Day Off to go to Car Auctions in Brisbane.
Myself, John North and Sean Ingham will try hard to make the finals today. Will not be easy but if we play like we have done so far, anything is possible.
We go to the Final with a 15-14 win over John Clark, Don Chambers and Brian Casey. Holding 2 going into the last end, they managed 1 shot only. I was a bit scratchy but put a few bowls in when it was needed like the very last end, 1 on ditch and 1 next to the Jack and it set up the win. John North played well again dispite his damaged knee and Sean again played good bowls. We were holding 4's and 5's in the first few ends but Brian reached the head every time to cut down or take away our shots. We could have easily been 15-0 up after 4 ends instead of 3-3. It was not easy and we worked hard to get the win. Our opposition never let up and Brian also played some telling dead draw shots too. We played Sean Bakers Team in the Final. It has to be "Sean" to be Beleived.. After the game we went to the Tweed Indoor (Where the final is to be held at 6.30pm This Thursday Night) and had a game of Pairs for 1 1/2 hours with John and Sean and Maxy North to get a feel of the green and it felt very nice. Not over quick so should be a good final. Certainly no one will run away with the game and it will be very tense. I am so looking forward to it after missing out of the Pairs going down in the 1/4 finals. Daily Diary - Tweed Heads Open Triples Winter Carnival Post Sectional Monday 18th July 20117/17/2011 Myself, John North and Sean Ingham attempted to have another good day.
Well we sure did. Post Section game against John Bosisto, Stan Glasser and John Attard. We all played very well for our strong 25-5 victory. We played short to medium ends and it upset their rythum. Sean once again was outstanding but John and I also helped build heads. 1/4 final against Hughie Jorgessens team that had just beaten Nathans Rice side on an extra end. Once again we played pretty good bowls on a good green slightly holding for another nice win 26-11. So its Semi Finals tomorrow for us against J Clarks side that beat Mark Howarde team earlier in the day.. The other Semi Final will be between Bruce McNish side and Sean Bakers side. Myself, John North and Sean Ingham had a good day today. From the looks of the teams, it looked like we had a good section. Greens ran pretty well after the rains of Saturday. 1st game we played against a team from Melbourne, Warnerbool. We certainly never had much luck but I certainly struggled on the slow green and John played marginally better than I. Sean kept us in it with with some very good bowls but the luck was not there and we went down 16-21. 2nd game we all played very well against a Local Robina side and beat them. This was the team who had a good win in the 1st game, albeit we beat them by 20-19. We out played them and were up by 6 going into the last end but chasing a margin incase needed. We were 2 down on the head and Seans drive was spot on but the bowl against the Jack followed the Jack near the ditch and 4 other bowls and we dropped a 5. We won 20-19. 1 win -4 and other Team had 2 wins +23. We had a brilliant last game against another team from Melbourne, Hampton and Kiaand won 36-8 (+28) and the other 2 teams in the section had a good tussell and the team that beat us in the 1st game went down by 5 and we had the bigger margin to win the section and go onto Tweed tomorrow. All 3 of us played well but Sean was sensational. Looking forward to doing well tomorrow.
Day off thanks to Bloody Rain and will cause me problems next Saturday as 9am Cabarita Club Championship Triples and then Rush Back for Pennant Trial at Southport for McKenzie Park. Oh well, Ive done it before and will do it again... Phuk the rain..
Phil Capon and I played Barry Ralph and Laurie Smith for a 13-6 win over the 10 ends. We both played very well in windy cold conditions on a quickish middle green. 2nd game against Noel Lyons and Ray Perkins, A 3 and a 5 on 1st 2 ends sealed the game for us early and we won 14-9 but only won 4 of the 11 ends although played fairly well and held them to low numbers when the scored.
