Abdul Latif and I had a pretty rough day at Paradise Point on the Indoor. 3 games. 1st game against Ray Trewern and Fred Barnes. We had a good close game until we dropped a 6 on 11th end to go from 8-8 to 8-14. We lost in the end 12-14 and found Rink 8 very hard to play. Especially Latiuf with borrowed bowls. Ray and Fred played pretty good too. 2nd game against Ron Lewis and Ted Reid. We played well but they made telling conversions and we dropped another 5 and went down 6-18. 3rd and final game against Roger and Peter Taunton (Halcyon Waters). Picked up a 4 on 1st end and dropped another 6.. Anyway we stuck to it and won 19-15 overall. Fun day and practice for us both.

Dispite the Rains early the morning the games still went ahead and sunny skies and surprisingly quick running greens although damp. We played Brian Nunan and John Lusack and went down 15-25 in a tight good tussle. Brian played very well and so did John. Luck never went our way and we had them always close but chasing on the last few ends we dropped a few exytra shots. Good fun morning and the Prawns afterwards were to die for... If you were not there this time - Be there next Time. Sunday 18th September 2011.
At home today against Musgrave Hill.
As someone left a Comment below "Well done Musgrave on a great come back all round". We all started very well expecially our rink. Gorden Simms, Clint Sheldon, Myself and Chris Hooper (Skip) stepping in for Steve Docking who was absent today. We went out to a 16-2 lead after about 8 ends and were sailing. We even picked up an 8 against Mark Spring, Alan Elliott, Reed Burgess and Shannon Gittos. That was our only high light in the end. A quick windy green had the opposition all at sea until a shower and change of conditions saw us drop a 7 and 3 and 3 and they were back in control. We never regained our early control and went down 21-33. Paul Staggard had a good tussle with Brian Baldwin and went down 20-27 and another Impressive win by Andy Hodgskin 20-18 over Sam White. Overall we lost 2 rinks to 1. Pennant really is not worth the hassle. It really is a bore. If they made it 7 rinks of Pairs then that would be interesting. That would be wonderful;. Get with the times. Play the game that peoplke want. No wonder people dont play pennant. Day Off today.
Picture of the Final of the Winter Carnival Triples in July 2011. We were Runners Up. John North (2nd) Sean Ingham (Skip) Myself (Lead). Lost 18-19 on the last bowl thanks to the Brilliance of Sean Baker. Banana Festival Today and Charles Klaverstyn and Myself played 3 good games together. I skipped. 1st game against Kris Lehfeldt (Ballina) and John Wybrow (East Lismore). We had a cracking game and had to be on guard the whole game and went down in a thrilling game and finish. Charles and Kris had a good tussel as did John and I. We were 10-12 down going into the last end and were holding 4 shots on the Head when John had his last bowl, It was windy and a very tricky day all round but Charles and I handled it rather well. John was narrow with his last bowl but he had enough weight to skid around a bowl 12 inches short and sit for 2nd shot. I was a fraction narrow with my last and we went down 11-12. 2nd game we played Kerry Roberts and Danny Taylor (Ocean Shores) and were 19-0 up after 4 ends and won 28-8 in a 1 sided affair although they did get 4 ends straight off us in the mid stages. 3rd game and again a good game against Rob Shoobridge (Condong) and Fred Smith (Cudgen). We won 20-12. Overall a good day and Charles and I played pretty well dispite the conditions. We actually came 6th and got $50 each. Disapointing that only 30 teams competed but the $2500 Prize money remained the same. Well Done Murwillumbah.

1st game against John, Brian Turner and Peter from Kingscliff and we had a good win 22-14 but only won 12 ends. Lost a few early and then late in the game but we won well otherwise. 2nd game against Condong team of Peter Ayres, Jack Knight and Dean Lucan. We played pretty well but Dean was the telling factor with some terrific saving and drawing shots when they were needed and we went down on the last end 15-20 and 10 ends. This game cost us any chance of prize money. 3rd game against Peter, Peter Ingliss and Barry Ansett. Had a good win 17-11 and 13 ends. All played well but we blew it with 2nd game. Sometimes Skips driving when a draw would be a better option can make a difference. John Rearson played great bowls all day. We played South Tweed away today. Andy Winton team had a good win 19-13 against Charlie Neave. Chris Hooper went down 15-35 against Kelvin Kerkow. Our side went down 9-22 against Neville Jenkins side and never fired at all. Very difficult green with the cross breeze and I think we all struggled and played without confidence although South Tweed always hard to beat at home anyway. Disapointing and next week must bounce back against Musgrave Hill.
