Brian Lamb and I could not have chosen a harder card. 1st game against Bill Mckenzie and Warwick Gordon. We played well and had a good 15-6 win. Dropped a 2 on the last end. 2nd game against Alan Grossett and Ray Glasser. A Game I really wanted to play well in as Ray always beats me although he should as he is a far better played than I. I played very and we had our share of good luck and had a good win 16-8 so I was happy about that. 3rd and final game against Alan Brough and Sam Granata who had lost their 2 first games. They started well and won the 1st 9 ends. We could just not get an end no matter how we tried and were down 0-14. We ended up 8-16 after a 5 on the last end. A good day but once again failed to win the last game which would have won us the day. We did win the lucky 1st winning rink so that was ok.
I am with Grant Osborne next month and we will try and go well together. I am almost a New Member at Paradise Point and trying to decide if to play 2014 Club Championships at Cabarita Beach or Paradise Point next year. Mick Morgan, Cess Shepherd, Myself and John Turner played in the A side and Graham Lake, Laurie Freeman, Mark Howard and Brian Lamb in the B side. Our first game against Condong Skipped by Steve Halmai. As per normal Steve was on fire with the first few ends and they shot out to a strong lead. We Stuck at them and got to 9-13 with 2 ends to go but chasing the win we dropped a 3 and a 3 to go down 9-19. Lamby Lost 1st game by 2 shots also. This is an overall score event from the 2 teams.
2nd game against Ocean Shores side skipped by Danny which we ended up winning 19-9. Close early but we managed to get away. I think by this game we were over it anyway as lunch was after the 2nd game and had already lost interest seeing as it was Fours. 3rd game against Michael Turners Kingscliff side on 2 strong wins. Mike also played well and they were well ahead but we fought back to fall 2 shots short 15-17. They were the better side but a good game Glad it was all over and home by 4pm. Phuk Fours. I gave up a good Prawn Pairs Game at Southport today to play this for My Club. Wish I had not have bothered. Only reason was we won it last year. No Bowls Today. Getting ready for 2 Big Days ahead of Bowls.
No Bowls Today. Paid a Visit to Paradise Point in the Morning though.
No Auctions for Me today. Daughter arriving at Airport in the Morning for a weeks holiday.
Wayne Krohn was away today so Bob Avery and I played together today. Wind was not too bad but a freshly watered green made it alkward. 1st game against Owen Bowen and Tony Healy. They Played very well and Bob and I struggled but no real luck. They converted well. We went down
5-12. 2nd game was a Thriller against Ralph (Spocky) Hunt and Red Edwards (Paradise Point WB Champion and Contender). They slipped away to a 1-5 lead after 4 ends and I thought we were gone but Bob and I managed to put in some truly remarkable bowls and some well educated (No Luck Shots) to get to a good lead at 11-7 after 12 ends. Ralphs downfall was the re introduction of "The Flipper" which had me reaching for the pencil as I thought it was a WB !!!. To be honest we were out played most of the game and on the last end and holding 2 shots, Ralph came through and picked up Kitty for 3 shots leaving Red 2 shots to draw and win game. Red made it 4 and a Tie before I managed to fluke a 4th shot with a ditch to ditch draw and stop them from getting their win. We won 11-10 and the result was never in doubt... Just a quiz for you. Someone had a wrong Bias today. Not Brownie, Not Red, Not Ralph. There is a missing name in the following Pop Group. Crosby, Stills, ????, @ Young.. 2nd Clue, Was a famous British bank. ?? I am not allowed to tell..... John Turner and I played 2 good games today. John Was Lead and I skipped for a change. 1st game against Sam Demario and Brian C (Cabarita). We played well for our 12-5 win. Greens quick and windy as usual. 2nd game on slower green but windy as hell. Swirly too. Lez Rootsey and Mick Morgan gave us a hard game. They played well but the luck we had in the first game certainly was not with us in this one. We went down 10-28 but score never represented the game, It was pot luck on many of the shots but their weight control over ours won them the day. We found the holes.
High Winds and Very warm and sticky Glad I am not bowling today.
