Gerry Ruggeri and I had a good win against Terry Rees and Derrick Coppack (Mermaid Beach) 36-11. Good game and Gerry and I played very well after the 4th end when we were 2-6 down although had bowls in the head each end. Although Terry and Derreck never played badly, Everything we did came off and some good ends made the score look very good indeed but a good friendly competitive game. We won the money today.

Sam Granata and I played together again. I was Lead today. We had a star studded field with players from Mt Gravatt, Toowoomba, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Tweed Heads, Wynnum Manly, plus all the locals which made Every game hard. 1st game we came up against Mitch Jackson and Brian Lamb (Tweed Heads). Both myself and Sam played very well for a 12-7 win. Brian Started off brilliantly and won the 1st 3 ends but from then, Sam played some great conversions and we had a good win. 2nd game against Bruce Prentice and Grant Osborne. Another Top game. Rink 1 was tricky and Bruce struggled a bit and although we went to a 5-0 win, We were pegged back by some great bowling again from Grant and we were 5-10 down after 10 ends. Sam once again came good with a bit of help from me and we managed to get up and win 14-10. 3rd game against Jim Crofts and Bryan Rumley. We had a good win 26-7 and once again we played well. We won the day so that was terrific. The last one for 2010.
This is a Monthly Quality event and next year will get bigger and bigger as teams are looking to get some top competition at least once a month. Alan Wood and I had a good game winning on the last end 23-20 after being locked at 20-20 on 20th end. Had to draw my way back into the game. Strange experience for me !!!! Played against Leif Anderson and Barry LLoyd who both played pretty well. Tricky windy conditions made it difficult for everyone but was a good friendly game. Prawns afterwards as usual were terrific and could not eat them all.
District Triples Final on at Southport this afternoon. Brett Eade, Brett Pearse and Ray Hanson (Paradise Point) against Rowan Wilson, Cameron (Yowie) Wilson and Reed Burgess. Result when I find out. Daily Diary - Paradise Point Mens Club Championship Fours Semi Final Saturday 20th November 2010.11/18/2010 Ray Trewern, Myself, Sam Granata and Grant Osborne played Mike Wagner, Fred Barnes, Lloyd Nash and Peter Parkers team and it shaped up to be a great contest. The green was tricky and it was windy and our team especially took time to settle and were 0-6 down after 3 ends but 2 x 3's put us level after 5. We were never really in the game and the opposition played better than us really in every department but we hung in there. After 17 ends we were down 14-20 but a few good bowls and a bit of luck saw us 19-20 going into the last end with last Bowl. We managed to get shot with the 2 skips with their 2 bowls each to play and we held 3 shots. Peters 2nd last bowl and a drive, with one of Mikes bowl in Box position 6" from the ditch, Peter (Who had drawn some brilliant shots today), had a drive and managed to knock Lloyds bowl up for shot Jack high. Grants 2nd last bowl, he removed the opposition shot and trailed the kitty to us for 2 shots. Peter was 1 meter short with his draw and that was it. WE WON 21-20. Totally against the run of play but thats Bowls. Hang in there and anything can happen. Grand final Here we come. Grant once again was cool under pressure and played very well. Sam played some good bowls but Ray and I struggled on a funny green but had a few there when it counted at the end. Well done team. Lets go on and Win it now.
Phil Skipped today as usual for a Friday. 1st game against Laurie Smith and Kenny Blackburn. We were sailing along nicely and playing well and 5-0 up after 5 ends and holding 3 shots on the 6th and a drive went wrong. We ended up 6 down. Was worth a go and would have won us the game but from then on they played well and we had a good game altghough went down 10-13. The rain over night had slowed down the green to Drive pace. Was hard to draw well. Phil and I bowled well dispite the loss. 2nd game against Tony Swift and Dave Green was all decided on the last end when we got a 3 to win 13-10. Was another good tight game and once again we all played well. Phil played some great shots today from skip on very slow wet greens.
Interesting Phil won a set of Henselite EVOs in a raffle at Helensvale Bowls Club.. Currently using Power he will struggle to find a better bowl to suit him as hes playing very well with the Powers so any one looking for a new set of Evo's, See Phil... Phil Capon and I played Indoor today against Jeff Mearns and Ralph Hunt and played well for a good 24-11 win. At 1 stage up 17-2 but as normal, they came back at us. We all played pretty well, especially Phil and I drew some good shots too, unusual for me. Anyway a good day and won the 2nd Lucky Rink Prize too. No Luck.
Bob Barry and I played Alex Martin and Peter Nolan on the front green that ran well. We started slowly and they stuck with us but we pulled away at the end for a good win 33-10. Both played well dispite Bobs dickey knee. 3rd money. Probably would have won the money as the 20th end holding 5 and Alex trailed kitty to ditch. Almost an impossible shot. Good game.
Today was a sad day for me. One of my close friends died. He was killed by chatter and rumour from people who have nothing better to do than cause gossip and problems within clubs and friendships. I hope they are satisfied.
Albeit, I dont really give a Dying Fluck... I will do what I want to do, When ever I want to, I will Bowl with whoever I want to and Where ever I want to and if any one doesent like it. Stiff s hit. I will bowl at any club I like and I will continue to become a better bowler all the time. If that upsets people, then Stiff S hit. I will attempt to play to the highest position I can get within a club and if people are not good enough to get in front of me, well Stiff S hit. I am Loyal to my Clubs and my friends and partners I bowl with. If you dont like me, Too bad. Do I care? No.,. Hope this is a clear message. If you dont like my attitude, GOOD ... Sod off a Die. I mean it... I am Very happy doing what I want to do and that is Bowl. Anyone gets in my way..Too Bad. Charlie Laws and I had a game together at last. We played Nyree and Jimmy Gibson from Tugun. We had a good close game and no matter what Charlie and I tried, They were just that little better. We went down 16-21 and lost the last 4 ends with 4 x 1's after holding shot each end. A good game and the harder we tried, the more they got us. Green ran well and took us a while to adjust to it but we all did. A beautiful Days bowls on Wonderful Greens. Bob Barry and I played our 1st game against Lance Arthur and Kevin Stanley (South Tweed). We had a very good game with some wonderful bowls played by us all and both had our share of luck. We outplayed them over the first 10 ends and we were leading 11-5 with 1 end to go. Complacency and chatting probably cost us the game as we dropped a 7 on the last end. A tricky green 18 seconds and a strong cross breeze. Bob unluckily trailed the kitty for us to be 5 down but I had my 2 bowls left. I cut a few out with my 3rd bowl but was slightly narrow and Kevin had a wonderful 6" trail for 7 with his last bowl. I could have driven to remove a bowl or two and win the game but chose to draw and was a fraction wide and skidded the wrong side of the bowl and dropped a 7. Unexcusable that we did that. We/I should have made sure everything was covered as we only had to draw the game to go to the winners play offs. Anyway good company and Kevs a great bloke to play against. Sure we will have many more encounters and he wont get off lightly again. 2nd game against Woody and Danny Vegter. Different green and we found it difficult and 0-7 down after 3 ends but once we found our line played well again for a 18-11 win over the 13 ends. Good days bowls.
