Phil Capon and I worked hard and had a brilliant game against Alex Foreman and John Fantina and some great bowls played for a 17-16 win. Only played 12 ends but would have loved to have played 21 at this standard we had. 2nd game against David Green and Col Pyke was a disaster and Col played very good bowls and David Chipped in and led well as we went down 6-21. Same Green but played very different on rink 7 to rink 1 we had 1st game. Anyway they got the better of us early and we chased and nothing came off. Anyway had a nice $4 lunch and there is always tomorrows game.

Usually Grant Osborne and I play at Paradise Point in the Thursday Pairs but seeing as only 1 green available for 2 months and we prefer to play Pairs, Broadbeach and Mermaid Beach are the only other options.
We played Ken Watson and Lou Halpern and we both bowls excellent bowls for a 30-8 win and we won the money. Next time back here 29th December after Xmas. Bob Barry and I had another hard game today at Southport on a good running green. We played Bob Davis and Ron Schofield and had a very good hard game. We went down 15-23 but some top quality bowls played again by all of us. Bob Barry played pretty well but Bob Davis was on song with top quality draw bowls and running shots. Good hard practice and one of these days we might get the luck we need to get a good win. These games are often decided on 1 or 2 bowls as this game was.
Charlie Laws and I got together again for another game. We played John Partridge and Noel Ridgewell on the newly renovated top green that was under water Saturday. Although slow it played pretty well. Charlie and I went out to a 10-1 lead after 5 ends but John Partridge found his form and Led very well from then on and shaded Charlie all the way in the last 1/2 of the game. I played a few good bowls and kept us close but we lost 16-25. Good practice and company but its always hard to hold that lead when they come back at you. Luck was shared.
Bob Barry and I has 2 good games today. 1st game on the slower green against Jim Stewart and Mick Morgan. Although we won 6-5 on ends, We dropped multiples and were outplayed and lost the game 7-14. Mick bowled excellent Bowls all day and Jim, still getting use to his New SR's played some good bowls in our defeat. Bob still struggling with his back problem and form and I was not much better. 2nd game against Ian Creelman and Ron Mc Caulley we managed to get up 10-9. The 2nd green was running nicely and we certainly played a lot better on it. I Love coming here.
God...... I wanted a good game of bowls. I am sick of this weather and slow greens. I hate Christmas and the disruption it causes. Give me Competition. I Arranged a game late Saturday evening at Paradise Point Indoor for today between Grant Osborne and I (Paradise Point) and Steve Triffett and Peter Golden (Broadbeach). Always a great game against these two.
What a terrific game. After 8 ends 8-8 but we dropped and 3 and 6 in 3 ends to be down 9-19 after 13 ends. Still time to come back and tried on short ends but although had a terrific tussle they ended up winning 16-23. Grant and I played well but as usual Steve was always there and abouts and Peter made some good conversions. These games against good hard opposition are far more enjoyable than most of the Social bowls we play. I shall be trying to arrange some over the Xmas and New year period when they on on Holidays. If the Bloody rain stays away Gerry Ruggeri and I will play at Broadbeach.
Guess what? The Bloody Rain filled the greens with water and we never played. I am sick of this bloody weather... I will definately be rolling up at Paradise Point Sunday Morning. Thank God for the Indoor at Paradise point. Phil Capon and I played Ian Giggins and Laurie Pickering in the 1st game and dropped a 3 and 5 and were 1-8 down after 3 ends. We came back to lead 10-8 after 7 ends but good bowls from Ian and Laurie saw us behind by 3 going into the last end. Trying to get a 3 to tie we dropped 4 and lost 11-19. Lose by 1 or 21, 1st game counts for nothing so margin not important. 2nd game against John (Rip) Whelan and Tom Hanlon. Very tricky green and Tom was the only one to really find it although I played some good lead bowls. We were 2-11 down but came back again to go down 13-16 with a series of good bowls by Phil and I.
I am getting fed up again with Casual Social Bowls and need All Day stuff to stay interested. Will be so glad when all this Christmas Bullshit is over and done so we can play some Top Hard Competition starting at Ballina on 27th December. Looking forward to good hard games next year. Grant Osborne (Skip) and I played Tony Regan and Tony Edwards in a very good game on the top green. Although running fairly well, it took Tony and I a lot of concertration to get near the jack but we both played decent bowls at times but it was the Skips, Grant and Tony who stole the show today with some stunning bowls at times. Many times we held shot but Tony on his last bowl got the shot. It was not until the last end when we got a 2 that we won 18-17 and were rather fortunate although deserved it with the last few ends played. just could not get away from them.
No rain today thankfully and Bob Barry and I had a good fun game against Margarette O'Farrell and Brian O'Farrell. Nip and tuck and we got up 19-14 and some good bowls played on a slow green. Bob still trying to get his back right but I felt a bit better today in my back. Probably the wet weather making us all stiffen up in our old age..
