Grant Osborne and I played here today. 1st game against Phil Akermanis and Reed Burgess. We had 11-11 draw. A game we should have won but I missed a couple of good draws when extra shots would have counted. Good Game anyway., 2nd game against Graeme Rainy and Erwin A. Good and Tight and we managed a good 11-10 win. 3rd and Final game against Bob Brown and Rob Parrella. Went down 8-15 although once again should have won this one dispute Rob Parrella Playing some good shots which gave them a few good counters. Grant Played pretty well all day. I had my moments but still feeling crook never helped my cause although we did ok.
Really Hot Day and a Morning Start., Slow Green but true. We won 3-2 Overall.
Grant Osborne started very well in the Singles and was up 9-2 but played against Young Mitch, Top Junior State Bowler and ended up beating Grant 12-31. Grant last year won every game in Super Challenge and young Mitch lost only 1 game so was a good game but local knowledge paid off for Mitch. Phil Capon, Gray Metham, Alan Grossett and Sam Granata Fours had a good strong win 24-16. Ray Glasser and Ian Brighton in the Pairs won their Rink. (I left early but was a good win) Trevor Bennett and Troy Corba in the other Pairs were down half way 10-17 came back brilliantly to lead 24-22 but dropped a 3 on last end to go down by 1 shot.. Our Triples… Myself, Robbie Dobbins and Peter Thompson. We started well and all played good early and led 15-3. As most times Opportunities to get bigger score slipped and they came back at us. The opposing Skip had his share of good luck with his tight Edge Factors and cost us numerous shots. On the Last end Peter had to draw 2nd shot to take us to a play off end when scored were locked at 22-22. Long Ends were hard to play and were were 1 down pom the last end when the opposing skip played a bowl and somehow spun Robbies bowl 9in for shot which we held and he also knocked up another shot with his last bowl and we won 24-22. Good Days Bowls. Never felt the best today. Managed to bowl fairly well but found it hard on slower greens. Grant Osborne and I for our last game together for 2014.
Grant and I had a ripper of a game today against Merv Cobb and Red Edwards. A Good combination, it was a good hard battle where the lead changed a number of times and I though we were gone on the 15th end when we dropped a 3 and 2 to be down 13-18. However we fought hard and managed to be all square at 20-20 on 19th end and running out of time. We managed 1 last end and got a 2 for a Great 22-20 win. We had 7 dead ends. Good way to finish the year on Thursdays. No Bowls Today but will be at Broadbeach at 8.30am for lots of Bowls sales and pick ups etc.
**************************************************************************************************************** NEWSFLASH ** NEWSFLASH ** NEWSFLASH ** NEWSFLASH * NEWSFLASH There was an incident today at Paradise Point. Something to do with a Wrong Bias. An International Bowler, No Its not Ralph. Yes… you got it. GRANT OSBORNE. P.S God help me when I do one. Latif and I for probably the last time here this year on a Monday.
1st game on a terribly windy day once again. Martin Fletcher and Jim Cook. 5-5 after 8 ends and they got a 3 and 2 and we ended up going down 6-10. Jim and Martin Played better than us on conversions. 2nd game against Ray Millington and Jim Stewart. We won 23-8 winning 11 of the 13 ends and winner or the losers. Both Played very well this game and we handled the wind better than the opposition. Brian and I pulled the pin on South Lismore today. Brian had a previous engagement and I could have played with someone else but could not be bothered. Have a side muscle pull anyway so probably just as well.
