3 hard games today on very ordinary greens with tricky breeze, They greens were a bit threadbare but ran about 16 seconds but did not seem true. We all had to play in them of course.
The 1st game against Bob Sinnamon and Bob (Rowdy) Muir (Wynnum) was a tough start. Grant led fairly well although still struggled and I did also. We had a close game and got to 16-17 with the last end to play. Clawed our way back after (Rowdy) made some excellent conversions. We lost a 3 on the last end trying to get the magic shot for a play off end. 2nd game against Colin Bryant and Cameron Mitchell on Rink 7. This is their Premier League Rink so they knew it well. This was a hard rink but after a slow start and down 7-12 we came back strongly to be 12-12 after the 16 ends. We both picked up and had them worried but we lost the play off end and went down 12-13. Great game though and Mitch had some great drives and saves, 3rd game against Richard Veaner and Matt Cowan, Struggled a bit early buy fought our way back to a very good win 17-12 over last 4 ends picked up about 12 shots. Matt was a little dispondent as all his games had gone down to the last ends and he lost them. They played pretty well especdially Richard early on. Grant mastered the green and so did I for a fine win. One of those days when we could have had all 3 games but would not have got the margins if they been so close.
Its good to play at places like this with average greens and it makes you think what Greens like Btroadbeach, Paradise Point and Cabarita have to offer. certainly was an eye opener for Grant but he mastered the buggers in the end but we were not the only ones who found them difficult.
