We played against Bobby Davis and Ron Schofield. Vince wanted to skip so gave me a chance to Lead. Heavy morning rain made the green slow and the wind made it tricky but I handled the conditions very well and was delighted with my leading against the Evergreen Bob Davis. We had a very close game until the 15th end and at 11-12 down picked up a good 5, also a 5 on the next end to slide us into a 21-12 lead. They would not lie down of course and they picked up a good 5 on us on the 17th end. 21-17. 1 to us on the 18th. 22-17. We were holding 2 shots on the 19th, Ron had a good drive to put kitty in ditch for 1 and then drew a 2nd and Vince failed to get 2nd shot. 22-19. Lost 1 shot on 20th end 22-20 and after we each kept the mat during the whole game, they gave the mat to us for the last end.
I took mat up about 4 metres and rolled kitty and promptly drove the kitty in the ditch with my 1st bowl and ended up about 1 metre from kitty. Vince drew another and I drew the actual shot with my last bowl. Bob Davis ditched his 1st 3 in the ditch by the slightest margin but drew a brilliant 2nd shot. Only Vince and Ronny to bowl and we were 1 up on the head and sitting pretty well. Vince fell short with his 3rd bowl and Ron Brilliantly sat my shot bowl into the ditch which was 12" from the ditch so they were holding 2 shots. Vince, in 2 minds (No truth in the rumour he doesent have any mind at all !!), tried to run one of their shots into the ditch and cut across the head. So at 22-22 with Rons last bowl, Drew a wonderful shot to try and sit the 2 shot bowls and just fell in the ditch. A great game and a great result as no one deserved to lose the game. Overall I felt we played the better bowls but a draw was a good result. 22-22.
