Lovely Hot Summers Day again with a strong gusty breeze.
Singles… Caine was (Un) Able to convert the home team advantage today and went down in Flames 8-31. Just never looked at home with the windy conditions and the Victoria Point Guy was a little too good on the day.
Fours…. Change of Team before Play and Mark Lister, Dennis Tabb, (AAA) Gary Alexander and (Mr Scuff) Joe Cacace was retained as Skipper.
Joe, Who sported a new pair of Flat soled shoes after his run in with the Greenkeepers for Scuffing the Green.
Great Game and they were under the pump the whole game but hung in there with some great bowls all round.. Holding 4 shots on the last end with score at 16-16, Al (Their Skip) had a drive and connected and killed the end to the enormous cheer from the Victoria Point Crowd. They Of course Had the Spot covered with a Jack High Bowl 18" away from the Jack almost T to T Distance and Joe had the last bowl of the game.
You Guessed it, he was narrow…. But wait.. We had a bowl on the way in and the narrow bowl took a gentle slide to give Joe absolutely No Luck Whatsoever and GOT THE SHOT...
Won the Game 17-16. Great Effort...
Our PAIRS… Once again it was tricky game and the game was close the whole way except when they took a 7-12 lead when we failed to save and dropped a 3 at a vital time...
The Ants were attacking my Bowls Bag. It was tragic as I tried to kill the little Bastards but they ran amuck and I have to get a caan of spray when I get home before they infect my Vehicle.
Getting back to the Game, Tied at 1-1 and other 2 games finished, we were up 18-16 with 2 ends to go… You would never Believe it, We held 4 shots and their leads last bowl drove at the head and we were 3 down and Al had to draw t the ditch to either save a couple of get shot.. Alan was 10 ft short with his first and the 2nd bowl he threw out wide and came home for shot..
Up 19-16 into last end and we held 3 good shots and covered almost everywhere. The only place they could get a 4 was a full drive and hope for luck. You would not believe what happened on the very last bowl of the game…
I was expecting a drive but Shane, their Skip tried to draw it off with a trail so we picked up a 3 and won 22-16. Great win in difficult conditions.
Anyway, A Very Disappointing day for Caine but its a team effort and we got home..
Helensvale Lost AGAIN… Big One Next week away to Mt Gravatt….
