What a Terrific Day we had. Weather was nice and Greens ran well. Steve let me choose the card and worst thing I ever done. THE GROUP OF DEATH… Thank God I played pretty well all day.
1st against Greg Ash (Tweed Heads) and Geoff White (Melbourne). We had a terrific game and ended up winning a close encounter 16-14 although we played very well, were probably still a bit lucky as Geoff had a couple of close shots which could have resulted in a different result.
2nd game against Nigel Smith and Neville Jenkins. I Can't escape meeting them in tournaments.. Its great to play against them as such good blokes and so competitive. We once again had a close game and dispute us dropping a 4 and 7 we still were in the game with a few ends to go. Neville played some lovely on shots to make big score throughout and we had a couple of unlucky rubs. We dropped a 6 on 11th end and could not recover although we chased to try and get numbers, we went down 14-25.
3rd and final game. We played Neil Jury (N.Z) and Paul Girdler. Another good game and a 20-9 win. Neil not really used to slower green after coming from NZ.
There were 3 x 2 game winners in our group but we never had the Margin and although Greg Ash beat Neville Jenkins on the last game, we still missed out winning the section.
Was Great to play with Steve Halmai, I true Gentleman and Great Bowler. Some of his bowls were incredible.
